About the Course

Course Overview:

This twelve-day training program, offered by PL Energy Training, delves into the intricacies of building integrated production and well operations performance models using commercial software applications. Participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to create models that encompass various aspects of production and well operations. The course covers topics ranging from reservoir pressure analysis, inflow performance, flow across completions, tubing string dynamics, surface choke effects, horizontal flow lines, to separator behavior. The training also introduces innovative workflows for evaluating, analyzing, and optimizing the performance of oil and gas field/well production systems at different stages of their life cycle – early, mid, and late. Attendees will learn to identify optimization opportunities, from reservoir and near-wellbore enhancements to artificial lift optimization. Real-world case studies showcasing diverse petroleum production technologies will be presented and discussed.

Who Should Attend?

Reservoir engineers, production engineers, facility engineers, and asset managers will find immense value in this course.

Key Learning Points:
  • By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to:

  • Evaluate the performance of hydrocarbon producing wells under both natural and artificial flowing conditions.

  • Develop models that depict the interaction between reservoir deliverability and wellbore completion.

  • Swiftly assess the redevelopment potential of marginal and mature fields.

  •  Identify operational issues and warning signs through analysis of well behavior.

  • Propose appropriate remedial actions to enhance well deliverability.

Course Outline:
  • The training program comprises the following modules:

  •  Introduction to integrated production modeling (IPM) suite, data validation, and reconciliation.

  • Modeling of PVT properties, multiphase inflow and outflow performance, choke and network performance, and nodal analysis concepts.

  • Estimation of Original Oil in Place (OOIP) and Gas in Place (GIP), facility modeling (compressors, pumps, pipelines, valves, etc.).

  • Calibration and updating of integrated production models, production forecasting based on well performance, risk and uncertainty analysis.

  •  Analysis of liquid loading in wellbore and reservoir condensate dropout, well performance evaluation.

  • Workflows for modeling well operation issues and remedial solutions, artificial lift systems.

  • Optimization of well productivity, well stimulation, intelligent well architectures.

  • Practical exercises and case studies from the field.
